Who we are

We are the team responsible for managing, inspecting, maintaining, and improving over 1,000 kilometres of roads in North and Mid Wales, including the A55 tunnels, over 2,000 road structures and many other assets. It’s our job to keep the road network moving 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

That’s a lot of roads. But we don’t stop there, we are also tasked with protecting natural roadside habitats and reducing the environmental impact of activities along the network. We’re busy planning, planting, and protecting the land to make sure every journey is greener and full of happy wildlife.

Managing the road network day-to-day is a big job, so behind our frontline teams there’s a bigger behind-the-scenes team that provide support in ways that are essential but not always visible to the public.

Everyone who works at the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent, from those who enhance the strategic road network to those who patrol it, plays a crucial role in shaping the future of journeys in Wales and keeping our road users safe.
