29 Sep Ambitious Apprentices Join NMWTRA
We would like to welcome three new Civil Engineering apprentices to the team.
Jack Goodwin joined NMWTRA after 6th Form where he studied A-Level Physics and Biology, and a BTEC in Engineering.
The BTEC qualification provided Jack with practical and technical skills across various engineering disciplines, which prepared him for the Civil Engineering Apprenticeship.
Speaking about his apprenticeship Jack said: “I was tired of full-time education and didn’t want to go to university. I wanted job experience in the engineering sector. I heard about the apprenticeship opportunities with NMWTRA and decided to apply.”
The next step in his career for Jack is the HNC Level 4 in Civil Engineering, before possibly pursuing a degree.
Alaw Morgan has joined NMWTRA after completing the first year of A-Levels and taking a gap year.
On her decision to pursue a career in Civil Engineering, Alaw said: “A member of my family is a Senior Engineer in Highways, and I have a lot of knowledge of what he does, and it really interests me. I saw an advert for the apprenticeship and decided to go for it.”
In the future, Alaw plans to complete an HNC in Civil Engineering before going on to a degree.
Jess Shaw joins NMWTRA after seven years working on Super Yachts around the world and travelling.
The experience equipped Jess with essential life skills applicable to the workplace including problem-solving, adaptability, communication skills, resourcefulness and confidence.
Jess said: “I was lucky to work and travel around the world, and I had some amazing experiences which have given me skills which I can transfer to the workplace.
Moving around a lot in my job meant I had to be adaptable, this is useful for my apprenticeship as I will be working within all the different units across the Agency.”
Jess plans to complete the HNC in Civil Engineering before studying for a degree.
